These policies are subject to immediate change and realignment. A 7-day grace period shall remain in effect to process, acclimate, and realign our arrangement if necessary.
Cliff has enough notes to make, so here are a few of mine highlighting the most important points you’ll want to be aware of if we decide to work together. Also, Open Source rocks. Feel free to use any or all of the below verbiage in your own business to inspire people to be kind and work better together. This is all said with love for our highest good.
Service value must be established prior to work beginning. Estimates on time are increasingly difficult with ever-changing factors related to technology, creativity, and communications. To establish a foundational scope, value is loosely based upon an initial estimate of hours to set a reasonable threshold of energetic work to be performed.
Scopes change frequently and quickly as our creative endeavors evolve and come to fruition. All changes in original scope and/or timeline must be approved in writing. Be advised that these adjustments could impact the overall project timeline and/or budget. Work will not proceed in the new direction until all points of discussion have been happily settled with all parties involved. Cheers to that!
We are partners embarking on a strategic journey of growth for your business. This is a milestone meant to be celebrated! While it’s a party 90% of the time, please understand that open communication and mutual respect of one another’s time and boundaries are critical to our success.
Consistent available business hours are 11am – 4pm Monday through Friday. However, if no appointments are cozy on the calendar and work is not scheduled for completion, we’re likely to have alternate plans.
As you might expect, we do not work on major holidays, and we also observe a few spiritual holidays sprinkled in here and there. Be advised we do not work on moon days–believe me, you don’t want us working in your energy or your business’ energy anyway.
We do our utmost to remain in a cycle of advancement and growth, so taking care of ourselves is critical at all times in order to do our best work. In light of this, we take personal time on a regular basis to maintain a high level of positive energy. Our physical, mental, and emotional well-being (and that of our families) will always be our highest priority. You will be advised in advance–whenever possible; occasional critical situations do arise–of personal time that might impact your timeline.
All project-related communications are centralized through a task management tool called ActiveCollab. Using this system allows for full transparency of your project every step of the way. Messages sent through other channels (email, text, Facebook, etc) could get lost in the shuffle of daily life so this is the best way to ensure discussions don’t fall through the cracks.
We check communication channels a minimum of twice a day to maintain focus and productivity. Please allow up to 24 hours for a response. We do not respond to communications on nights and weekends unless prior arranged and agreed-upon.
Please be mindful of the rhythms and cycles of our day, as we will be of yours. Although we adore speaking and meeting with our clients on a regular basis, spontaneous calls are disruptive to our ability to stay on task with the priorities for the day. We aim to be available as needed, but scheduled calls are our general rule–with the understanding that exceptions do occur.
Once the signed contract and deposit have been received, a tentative timeline will be delivered for approval in alignment with the original scope of work.
Work on expedited timelines may require unexpected shifts of interim milestones to accommodate emergencies that arise related to personal responsibilities and priorities of other clients. However, hard deadlines will always be met as initially agreed upon. We greatly appreciate your understanding.
We spend significant intentional time planning out our weeks to maximize our productivity both personally and professionally. Here’s how our days look at the moment:
- Monday: Preparatory day (weekly intentions, planning, strategy). No working meetings or phone calls, please.
- Tuesday-Thursday: GSD, baby! (That’s get shit done) All in-person meetings and working phone/video calls take place during normal business operation hours as noted above.
- Friday: Reflection (wind-down, tie up loose ends, evaluation of the week). No working meetings. Phone calls sparingly.
- Saturday: Play!
- Sunday: Community space.
We offer a unique mix of strategy, copywriting, design, and development. Our process is completely integrated, and as a result, is immensely difficult to segregate work by task. This methodology is actually more advantageous to clients as their project is not passed around from silo to silo across creative disciplines and/or seniority. It also allows us to streamline our flow and work quickly.
We charge $70/hr and offer a reduced rate of $50-60/hr to agencies we partner with to accommodate their pricing structures and overhead. If you’re unfamiliar with market rates, you will find $125/hr a standard rate among consultants and agencies offering the same breadth of service and depth of expertise. We encourage you to do your own research, of course. We do offer flat rates for large-scale or multi-component projects, as needed and when appropriate.
We don’t charge for project management or meetings. Yep, we’re aware that’s nearly unheard of in the corporate and agency world. We’re tired of charging every minute we answer an email, pick up a phone, or organize project assets and data (a non-negotiable!). So we’re not gonna… because it sucks and we’re driving this train. 😉
Deposits are nonrefundable. This accounts for time spent during initial negotiations, project setup, and securing a spot in the available workload that may have potentially been reserved for or allocated to another client.
Should you decide to terminate our contract for any reason before fulfillment, the balance of work completed is still due and will be promptly invoiced. Refunds will not be given on work completed, as changes in subjective creative direction, environmental factors, or other issues that arise beyond our control.
For web technology to spring farther ahead, we make use of cutting-edge capabilities available in modern browsers. The latest features in web design and development require advanced browsers that support newer technologies. Older browsers don’t have the chops to provide you with the same high-quality experience. For this reason, we only support modern browsers. We’ll support the current and prior major release of Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on a rolling basis. Each time a new version is released, we’ll begin supporting the update and stop supporting the third-oldest version. If it’s been a while since your last update, we encourage you to get the latest version of your favorite browser. Please note we do not support Internet Explorer and similar outdated and unsupported technologies.
Is all this cool with you?
Sweet! Also, just FYI, we don’t work with people we’re unable to also call friend. We care about each of our clients on a deeply personal level. We care about their well-being and their business vision, struggles, and triumphs. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea to work this way, but it makes us better at what we do. For us, giving a shit = good business.
We look forward to working together!
